Engineering-Services-Examination of India is considered one of the HARDEST competitive examination in the field of Engineering  The (ESE) Engineering Services Examination is conducted  by UPSC to recruit the Engineering officers  which lead  to the technical Activity & functions of the Govt of India in the Different streams  of engineering

The Recruitment Of Engineering Officers are in different streams of Engineering  which is given below


【1】Civil Engineering.  


【2】Mechanical Engineering.  


【3】Electrical Engineering. 


【4】Electronics And Telecommunication Engineering



The Preliminary examination comprises of Objective-type Questions and the Mains exam is a subjective type description based exam . The syllabus is very much  vast and one must firstly to understand the syllabus and  areas from which questions are expected. What is the IES/ESE Preliminary Examination Syllabus criteria for paper 1 and 2?


The Engineering Services Preliminary-Examination consists of two objective type MCQ  papers for all engineering streams and carries a maximum of 500 marks each stream  (Paper 1 – 200 Marks & Paper II – 300 Marks).


The standard/level of paper in the  General Studies and the Engineering Aptitude for Preliminary-Exam-1&2  will be as may be expected of an Engineering Science | |Graduate. 


The General Studies & Engineering Aptitude For Prelims Paper I & II ,  MCQ based Objective type paper  Common to all Candidates)  


  1. The  Current Affairs of National & International importance relating to social + economic + industrial development

  2. The Engineering Aptitude covering the Logical reasoning &  Analytical ability 

  3. The  Engineering Mathematics & the  Numerical Analysis

  4. The General Principles of Design + Drawing + Importance of Safety precautions

  5. The Standards and the Quality practices in production + construction, + maintenance &  services 

  6. The Basics of Energy and the  Environment: Conservation + environmental pollution and the degradation of Climate Change + Environmental impact assessment 

  7. The Basics of Project Management 

  8. The Basics of Material Science &  Engineering

  9. Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) based tools & their applications in the  Engineering such as the networking + e‐governance +  technology based education. 

  10.  Ethics & values in the Engineering profession.  


Note: The paper in General Studies and the Engineering Aptitude will include the Knowledge of important topics as may be expected from the  engineering graduate without special study

the Questions will set from all the 10 topics mentioned above  Marks for each Topic can be  range from 6% to 15% of the whole  marks in the paper

What is the IES/ESE Mains Exam Syllabus criteria for paper 1 and 2?

Mains Exam


The Engineering Services Main-Examination will consist of two conventional type papers For all  Engineering   specific streams  with duration of three hours and carries maximum marks of 600 each stream  (300 Marks in each paper). 


The standardization of papers in the Mains exam  will approximately be same  that of an Engineering Degree Examinations of an Indian University's. There will be no Practical-examination in any of the subjects.

Interview


 To reach interview section  Candidates have to  obtain such minimum qualifying marks in the  Engineering Services Preliminary-Exam and Engineering Services Main-Examination as it is fixed by the UPSC Commission and According to UPSC,The  Qualified candidates  shall be invite for interview  which is Personality Test The number of candidates to be invited for the Personality Test will be about twice the number of vacancies to be filled. The Personality Test will carry 200 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks). 

The Personality Test is  special conducted to know  the candidate’s capacity for leadership Initiative & Intellectual curiosity  tact & other social qualities + mental & physical energy powers of practical application & integrity of character
